Software Engineers Client Onboarding Checklist & Best Practices
Hiring a remote developer is often the top option for businesses, as it gives them the best value for their money. However, clients are wary when it comes to recruiting a remote professional.
Disappointing past experiences make it difficult to give it another shot. But, before dismissing the idea of hiring a remote developer, companies should consider the reasons for previous remote onboarding failures.
You might be surprised to learn that the majority of these situations are caused by a bad onboarding procedure. After investing a lot of money and time upgrading their internal processes and recruiting the best software developer, it’s incredible how big companies still overlook the proper onboarding practices.
Here are the most common mistakes of the onboarding process that software development companies often overlooked:
- Lack of clearly documented company information
- Excessive informational overload
- Not communicating clearly (and often) enough
- Not establishing boundaries
- Not setting clear goals
- Not developing an onboarding process
- Making assumptions
